UTOPIA
"At a certain distance, the organic and colored compositional forms of Utopia, protected by a circular frame with acrylic dome refer to the forms of plants or bio cellular structures isolated in petri dishes. On approaching, we observe a topographic composition with its contours lines delineating overlapping layers of colors and textures. Then, very close to the work, perhaps even equipped with a magnifying glass, another world opens up, and inside the acrylic "bubble" one can observe collages of cartographic (original) maps of Japan and poems by Fernando Pessoa (Portugal, 1888-1935) handwritten in tiny letters that repeat:
In the home I'll never have
There is the peace of whole world.
There, affection is the king,
Love is good and deep
Without it being
I'll only find him
In the home I'll never have."

"A uma certa distância, as formas composicionais orgânicas e coloridas de Utopia, protegidas por uma moldura circular com cupula de acrílico remetem às formas de vegetais ou estruturas biocelulares isoladas em placas de petri. Ao se aproximar, observa-se uma composição topográfica com suas curvas de nível contornando camadas sobrepostas de cores e texturas. E bem rente ao trabalho, talvez mesmo munido de uma lupa, um mundo se abre, e dentro da “bolha” de acrílico observa-se colagens de mapas cartográficos (originais) do Japão e poemas de Fernando Pessoa (Portugal, 1888 – 1935) escritos à mão em letras bem miúdas que repetem:
No lar que nunca terei
‘Stá a paz de todo o mundo.
Ali o carinho é rei,
O amor é bom e profundo
Sem que seja
Eu só o encontrarei
No lar que nunca terei. "

CELLS
"The Cells series follows the same research line of the Utopia series, but in the two-dimensional format. Produced with gel ink pen and collage of Japanese cartographic maps on Montval paper, it has its compositional forms engraved by dry embossing. This technique gives to Cells drawings sculptural reliefs that form topographic curves surrounding imaginary organic cell-maps.
The white part, all filled with white gel ink pen, emphasizes the emptiness of white-on-white as part of the composition, in a direct reference to the traditional Japanese aesthetics, where the emptiness is cultivated as contemplation of silence.
In this series I evoke the same poem of the Utopia series."

"A série Cells segue a mesma linha de pesquisa da série Utopia, mas no formato bidimensional. Produzidos com caneta gel e colagem de mapa cartográfico japonês sobre papel Montval, possui suas formas composicionais gravadas através da técnica de relevo seco, o que confere ao desenho relevos escultóricos que formam curvas topográficas circundando mapas-celulas orgânicos imaginários. A parte branca, toda preenchida com caneta gel na cor branca, evidencia o vazio do branco sobre branco como parte da composição, em uma referência direta à estética tradicional japonesa, onde se cultiva o vazio como contemplação ao silêncio.
Nesta série transcrevo o mesmo poema de Utopia."
